- No. eigenbuch is built on the zero-knowledge principle: cash book, client list and messages are stored encrypted only, and decryption happens solely in your browser. Even if the server were seized, only unreadable ciphertext would be there. Your password is the key – not even the provider can hand it over.
- Is the cash book suitable for the tax office?
- Yes. Income and expenses are recorded with gap-free receipt numbers and made tamper-evident by a checksum chain (GoBD-oriented). From this the profit calculation (EÜR) is produced.
- Does eigenbuch help with welfare and the EKS annex?
- Yes. There is a filling help for the EKS annex for the job centre – including the § 11b earned-income allowance and a deadline countdown. You see what is counted before the notice arrives.
- What does eigenbuch cost?
- The beta is free until 30 September 2026. From the planned launch on 1 October 2026 eigenbuch costs from €21/month (from €11/month is planned for BesD members). Plain hosting starts at €4/month, and the combo of website builder and eigenbuch from €25/month. As a small business under § 19 UStG, no VAT is shown.

- What happens if I lose my password?
- Then the encrypted data is lost for good – no one can restore it, not even the provider. That is the flip side of real encryption. Keep your password in a password manager.
- Can I export my data or delete my account?
- At any time. You can download all your data and delete your account completely – no lock-in. Whoever leaves takes everything with them.
